1. Who are you?
My name is Daniel Tam-Claiborne, and I’m a Chinese American freelance writer and photographer, originally from Brooklyn, NY. I work for Yale University and write for the website travelbreedscontent.com.
2. Where are you now?
New Haven, Connecticut: birthplace of the hamburger.
3. What do you do when you’re not travelling?
I just recently got into bouldering, but I also enjoy cooking, running, and watching reruns of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Competition.
4. What was the last piece of music you listened to?
Never Ever, by All Saints. My music taste is perpetually stuck in the ‘90s.
5. Tell us briefly the travel story you shared in LOST.
Stranger in a Place Called Home, the story I published in LOST Issue Two, is about a trip I took to my mother’s ancestral hometown in Taishan, China. It is part-family history, part-search for identity, and speaks to the challenges of being a perpetual outsider in a foreign place.
6. What do you love about travel?
Seeing something so ordinary become imbued with an other-worldly quality.
7. What do you hate about travel?
The feeling immediately after alighting a long-distance bus in a new city.
8. Do you like to travel alone or with people? Why?
I like to travel with people. For a long time, I believed that there was a certain romance to solo travel, but after doing it, I realized that I actually preferred having someone to share the experience with.
9. What do you think about during travel?
The way my life might be different had I been born somewhere else. Oh, and food.
10. Any future travel plans?
I’m taking a 10-day cross-country roadtrip across the northern United States from New Haven to Seattle in August. I really dislike driving, so this should be an interesting trip.

看見如此普通的事物充滿別樣的世俗品質。
7. 旅行最讓你討厭的是什麽？
從長途汽車下來進入一個新城市的那一刻感受。
8. 你喜歡獨自旅行還是跟朋友一起？為什麽？
我喜歡結伴旅行。過去很長一段時間，我都相信獨自旅行會發生浪漫的邂逅，這麽做了之後，我意識到我還是更願意旅途中有人相互分享。
9. 旅行時經常會想到什麽？
如果我出生在其他地方，我的生活可能會不同。噢，還有食物。
10. 接下來有什麽旅行的打算嗎？
8月，我將有一個10天的穿越美國北部的自駕越野旅行，從紐黑文到西雅圖。我真的不喜歡開車，所以這趟旅行將會很有意思。
